As design trends incorporate more neutral colors and natural materials, concrete is no longer limited to basement floors and foundations. From walls to countertops and sinks, concrete is having its moment as a design material that gives neutral flexibility for any style. Unfortunately, concrete is typically pretty heavy. If you’re looking for concrete planters to modernize a commercial or residential outdoor space without the extra weight, consider faux concrete planters made of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). Made to look and feel just like the real thing, glass fiber reinforced concrete planters give the illusion of being a sturdy concrete planter while being durable, light, easier to move, and more resistant to cracks and weathering. With options that come in a variety of shapes, take a look at a few concrete landscape planters made to help create stunning plant displays.

Hi Debbie! GFRC planters can withstand UV exposure and extreme temperatures, from high heat to frost, and can tolerate the seasonal thaw cycles when planted as recommended. Our GFRC planters are equipped with pre-installed holes to allow for drainage. The drain holes must be kept clear to maintain the longevity of your planter, especially in climates that undergo freeze-thaw cycles in the winter. We recommend: Covering the drain holes with a mesh screen (or equivalent) to keep debris from clogging the openings; Filling the bottom of the planter with non-porous drainage material; Filling the remainder of the planter with a well-draining soil mix that will not retain excess water; and lastly, covering the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark to the top rim of the planter to discourage water from pooling on the surface.
