Product Description for Morris Lion Cast Stone Pots  sku: P-453

The Morris Lion Cast Stone Pots are stately additions to your garden or patio. Handmade in cast stone and finished in its natural color or one of eight exclusive patinas, each piece is designed to replicate the look of natural aging. Our elegant and sophisticated techniques combine distinctive lines with a sense of proportion and permanency to create a truly breathtaking piece of garden art.

About the Design
This Morris piece is part of the collection of reproductions that were inspired from the Morris Arboretum Gardens at the University of Pennsylvania. Cast from antique originals, this collection embodies the timeless elegance and beauty of their collection. This original design demonstrates a genuine understanding of garden art - especially texture, patina and the softening effects of age and weather.

About the Molding and Finishing Process
These sturdy, cast stone planters are carefully handmade. First, a team hand pours the liquid cast stone mixture into the crafted mold and utilizes special techniques to remove the air bubbles, guaranteeing you a solid stone structure. Once the stone is air dried and put through an internal quality check, it is sent to the finishing department where seams are ground and any air holes caused by the pouring process are filled and smoothed. Eight patina choices, other than a natural finish, are available. As each patina is hand applied in a multi-step process, no two pieces will look exactly alike due to the variance in the natural cast stone materials, creating a uniquely beautiful original.

About the Care of Your Planters
All of our cast stone pieces are manufactured with a high density cast stone mix with a PSI (pounds per square inch) strength of approximately 7,500. While this high density mixture is designed to produce a strong and durable product, proper winter storage is recommended to protect your product. If it is not possible to place your planter in a covered area where it will be protected from the elements, we suggest the following:

If a planter is to be left planted over the winter, it should be raised up off the ground by placing two (2) pressure treated wood strips underneath the planter, making sure not to block the drainage hole. This will allow the soil to drain and will prevent the planter from freezing to the ground.

If a planter must be left outside unplanted, we suggest that you empty the soil and turn the planter upside down onto wood strips. Cover or wrap the planter with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrap with dark plastic. This will prevent moisture from accumulating in the planter and decrease the risk of water absorption which, when frozen, can cause the planter to crack or break.
